Excuses & My Rebuttal

Excuses! I hate them! Seriously, I get asked a million question daily on how to lose weight and nutrition. I give my advice because I love what I do and I want to help you achieve your goals! However, if you don't listen and I mean truly listen and follow the steps I give you then you will never see results. The truth is: it's not easy! It has to be a complete lifestyle change!! If you want change, then YOU have to change. You have to learn to face your fears and knock them out of the park. You have to get up off your sofa and do something about it. Results don't come instantly. They come with hard work, dedication, and committment repeated daily

Here are the excuses, I get daily:

"I can't work out, I'm pmsing and have a headache."
And your point?? Working out during your monthly cycle could be the best thing for you. It will make you less lethargic, release tension & cramps, and, release water that causes you to bloat. It releases endorphins that will help stabilize your blood sugar and your cravings for sweets. Seriously, EXERCISE--I don't even know that I have a monthly cycle anymore!

"I don't have access to a gym."
Yes you do. Wherever you are standing will work fine. Use the outside world as your gym! I completed P90x & Insanity in a remodeling zone with contractors everywhere. Don't tell me you don't have room!

"I don't have time."
If you have 15 minutes then you have time. If you have time to sit your butt on the couch and eat doritos while watching the Bachelor then you have time. I work a full-time job driving 300 miles a day, run a business, personal train, teach aerobics, and I still have time for my own personal workouts.

"I don't know where to even start."
You do NOW! You want results then get on it! Don't put off tomorrow what can be done today.

"I can't afford healthy foods."
BS-You can afford to go out to eat everyday or get tanked up on margaritas then you can afford what your body needs & deserves. Organics are completely affordable!

"I'm injured and can't workout."
If you can walk, you can work out.

"I hate working out."
Don't think working out has to mean jogging on a treadmill. Stop with the same boring old exercises and trick yourself into working out. Create fun ways to burn calories.

"There are too many social distractions and my family won't understand."
Don't give in to that mentality. If your family doesn't get it, they will when they see results. Ask Tami French with a family of 4, how she does it?

"My habits are too far gone."
Break them and develop new & good ones!

"I don't know how to cook."
Learn! Youtube works miracles! I came from a deep rooted cajun cooking family, I had to learn myself.

"I get overwhelmed and always fail."
Take baby steps and you will find out that it's absolutely worth the effort!

"I can't seem to every breakthrough and see results."
If you get stuck, change it up a little. or try P90x:it will confuse your muscles entirely!

"I hate to sweat."
GET OVER IT! You have to be willing to work for what you want and need.

Whatever your excuse is: forget them!!! If you want results, you have got to start now!

NO EXCUSES!
BRING IT!

My Ultimate Goal:

After losing 80lbs and keeping it off for nearly 2 years, I have been pondering what my next challenge should be. I have made huge progress but I have been wanting to take it to the next level. My ultimate goal is to be the fittest that I can be by my 30th Birthday-January 16, 2010. Since it is close to 90 days, I have decided to do P90x for another round.

P90x is by far one of the greatest workouts EVER created! I have seen more people have amazing results with this workout more than anything else. No matter what your goal is in fitness; you will get great results with P90x if you follow it correctly.

I completed P90x last year around this time. It has definitely helped me take my fitness to the next level. However, I didn't follow it correctly the first time. I should have followed the nutrition phases by the book but I didn't. Instead, I ate clean but I didn't transition through the different phases as I progressed through 90 days.

I am beginning P90x classic version tomorrow @ 5:30am. I am going to push myself harder than I have ever done before. By my 30th, I am holding myself accountable for being the most fit that I can be. I want to be healthy, strong, & fast! I want to be able to look at my abs in the mirror and say,"Thank you Tony Horton for my 6-pack!!"

Ultimately, my goal is to be healthiest that I can possibly be. It's not about trying to be a supermodel and be pleasing to the eye with me. It's about being product of product and living a long & healthy life. I will keep everyone up-to-date with my progress! Bring it!

Make change a habit!!

You have been working out for three months and have yet to see results. This makes you question why you even bother and sends your motivation out the window. If this is the case, it's time to re-evaluate your workout routine.

Truth be told, I have been here before. I ran 6 miles a day for 8 months. Every single day, I pounded the pavement down the Red River and sweated like a hyprocrite in church.  And, at the 3-month mark, I wasn't gaining or losing anything.  I never could understand why I wasn't seeing any tremendous results. Sure my legs were getting stronger but as far as weight goes I wasn't losing anything. I had hit a plateau and couldn't get over the hump. Why?  Because I needed a CHANGE! My body had adapted to this 6-mile run and I needed to do something different. It was working more efficiently with every step and I could easily run 6 miles. I needed more challenges!!!

Every day, people tell me they workout consistently but are seeing nothing.  Then I ask, "So what are you doing?" Their answer is always the same,"I run on the treadmill or I run on the elliptical or I've been walking."  My answer, "Get off and do something different!"

 The only solution=MUSCLE CONFUSION.
The goal is to confuse your muscles so you can avoid these terrible weight plateaus and keep getting results.

To create "confusion," you have to change your pace and make sure that you are exercising with your most intensive force.

Change the speed at which you perform! Run fast for 30 seconds then rest for 15 then do squats for 30 seconds then rest for 15. etc. etc. U get my drift!  Explosive speeds require recruitment of large, powerful, fast-twitch muscle fibers compared to doing exercise with controlled slower movements which only require smaller, weaker slow-twitch muscle fibers to be recruited.

Change your technique. The change doesn't have to be major for your body to notice a difference. If your doing chest presses widen your grip.  If you are doing squats widen your stance. If you are running, run faster for shorter periods or longer off-road. These simple changes in technique cause your body to stimulate different muscles.

I'm no expert in Fitness but these are a few simple concepts that you can start applying today. Try it and see how you feel to perform exercises differently. Changing things up often to keep your body slightly off kilter, forcing your body to stimulate different muscles.

Programs I recommend: Tabita Method, P90x, Insanity!

Most importantly:  Just do something different every day!!! Do it consistently combined with clean healthy eating and this is a no fail plan!!!!

BRING IT!
